A World of iPhone / iPod Touch Links Update

It’s that magical time again. A World of iPhone Links has been updated. Of course, these links work just as well on an iPod WorldTouch, but we all know the iPhone is the way babies are made, right?

iPhoneQuiz - Quiz game. Word is, Alex Trebek checks the site’s logs, searching for contestants. Ok, that’s not true, but whatever.

KnockOut - Classic NES game Punchout, except it’s called KnockOut. Take that trademark office!

MasterMind - The classic Master Mind game.

NextBus - San Francisco MUNI times.

NYC Subway Buddy- Very helpful and good-looking NYC suybway info. Alerts, maps, etc…

Othello - The classic Othello game.

Ovulation Calendar - Make babies with your iPhone, as Steve Jobs intended.

Quizzler - Quiz game. Test your trivia skills.

Stack the log - Stacking game. You drop a log or two every day right? Why not do it on the iPhone?

Song in New iPod Nano Commercial is “1234″ by Feist

For those enamored by the music video playing on the iPod Nano in the new commercial, it is the song “1234″ by Canadian singer/songwriter Feist.

iPhone, HD Radio, and iTunes Tagging

Apple Logo White BackgroundHD RadioReuters is reporting that Apple and iBiquity Digital Corp are offering a free service called “iTunes Tagging,” which essentially lets you locate songs in iTunes Music Store that you hear on an FM HD radio channel and purchase them.

The big question is whether any current Apple product, like the iPhone or iPod Touch, can receive FM HD radio. The chip inside the iPhone is the Infineon S-Gold2, which, according to its spec sheet, offers “connectivity to Bluetooth, FM Radio, WLAN, A-GPS and other modules.” There is also evidence in the iPhone’s firmware that Apple has some sort of radio functionality in store for the iPhone.

This could create a scenario where any iPhone owner near a wifi connection and listening to HD Radio could download the song they’re listening to. That could be a very powerful revenue source for record companies, as it involves impulsive, time-limited purchases (”I better buy before the song is over!”).
