It’s baseball season again, and we all need a way to get the latest scores and stats on our iPhones. Here are some iPhone- and iPod Touch-optimized ways of getting baseball info. Our featured site is Pickleview, but we’ve also listed our entire collection, so you can choose one that’s right for you.
Pickleview - Follow your favorite team pitch by pitch. Shows small pictures and stats of players on the base path when they’re at bat or when they reach a base. The bottom of the screen features play-by-play text descriptions, or you can choose to Twitter about the game with your friends.
Others:
ESPN Mobile MLB - Scores and that’s about it. Very limited information.
Live Stats Tracker - Keep track of your fantasy players. One-time set up. Add your individual players, and each time you revisit the site, your players’ latest stats will appear.
MLB.com Mobile - Official site of Major League Baseball in mobile form. Very ugly but offers the most information (particularly, individual stats) of all the links.
Pro Baseball - Baseball scores on your iPhone. Good looking, lots of information, but a little buggy (pitchers currently appear in incorrect order in box scores).
ScoreMobile MLB - Clean interface, but features only scores and limited stats.
SportsTap MLB - Scores, stats, standings, and transactions. Displays full box scores. Good looking site.
Yahoo Mobile MLB Scores - News and scores from Yahoo.
There are also a few alternative methods to get baseball scores on your iPhone. One is to send an SMS text message with the words score and Red Sox (or your favorite team) to Google at 46645, and they will send back a score. You can also have Yahoo Alerts send you a text message when a game featuring your favorite team starts, every 3 innings, or when the game ends.
