Joel Comm, the Internet entrepreneur behind the successful iFart app ($0.99, iTunes link), was recently interviewed by the Orlando Sentinel. His iFart application has sold more than 350,000 copies in the app store. After Apple takes its 30% cut, that comes to approximately $245,000 in revenue.
When asked why he though the app was so popular, Comm responded:
It’s a subject matter that never goes out of style. If you go back to Shakespeare you can find lines about flatulence in his writing. It’s something that everyone can identify with.”
Comm was also asked where the fart sounds in the app came from. They’re not personal recordings, rather they were purchased from a third party.
iFart is a 99-cent download in the iTunes App Store.
