Wired recently interviewed Ethan Nicholas, developer of the tank artillery game iShoot ($2.99, iTunes link). When iShoot rose to No. 1 in the App Store, it netted Nicholas $37,000 in a single day, so he quit his job to focus on game development.
In a single month, iShoot managed to rake in $600,000 for Nicholas.
I’m not going to be a millionaire in the next month, but I’d be shocked if it didn’t happen at the end of the year,” he said in a phone interview. “If it weren’t for taxes I would be a millionaire right now.”
Apple, who currently pays developers on a monthly basis, has not yet delivered the revenue to Nicholas.
iShoot is a $2.99 download in the iTunes App Store.

He ripped off Pocket Tanks – an application that has been shareware for years and charged for it. Greedy.
