The usual tech-journalist luminaries as well as Gizmodo and their straight-A cousins at Engadget got their hands on the iPhone 3G S a little early and have rushed out their reviews:
New York Times review by David Pogue.
USA Today review by Edward C. Baig.
Wall Street Journal review by Walt Mossberg.
Chicago Sun-Times review by Andy Ihnatko.
CNET.com review by Kent German.
Wired.com review by Steven Levy.
The Times (UK) review by Murad Ahmed.
Engadget review by Joshua Topolsky.
Gizmodo review by Jason Chen.
Stuff.tv video review by Tom Dunmore.
The consensus seems to be the new speed is impressive, and the new features work as advertised, but it’s not a revolutionary update.
I say, the best part of the iPhone 3.0 platform (and perhaps the revolutionary part) hasn’t been coded yet. Keep in mind that third-party hardware is going to be attached to this thing. It’s kind of like reviewing the iPhone 3G without the 50,000 apps. You’re only getting part of the picture.
