This app is going to be a smash hit. I Am T-Pain ($2.99, iTunes link) is essentially a karaoke app that uses auto-tune to fix your singing (keeping you in tune) and adds some techno style to your voice. You can sing over several provided tracks, including “Dream Girl” featuring Akon and Tay Dizm. You can even record your auto-tuned masterpieces and share them with friends by uploading them to Smule’s (the developers) servers. Here’s my auto-tuned version of “Dream Girl.” And another.
You can purchase more tracks inside the app for $0.99, like “Buy U a Drank (Duet w T-Pain).” The app also has settings to tweak the key of the auto-tune, in case you want to use the effect for your own music.
Overall, the app is a lot of fun and works flawlessly. I’ve been playing with it all morning. I Am T-Pain is a $2.99 download from the iTunes App Store.
