Everyone needs at least one solid word game on their iPhone. Here are two Boggle-esque games currently available for free:
Lexel
We reviewed Lexel (iTunes link) in February and liked its slick graphics and cool sound effects. Besides the obvious Boggle influence, there is also an element of Tetris in that you must stay ahead of the pace and remove tiles from the board by forming words. You form words by sliding tiles around then tapping the first and last letters of the word.

Word Fu
WordFu Plus+ (iTunes link) is currently my favorite iPhone word game, and now there is a free version available that has all the functionality of the paid version. The catch is that you have to sign up with an online Plus account before you can play the game, which takes about 45 seconds to do. There is also an ad that appears in the main menu. Otherwise, it’s the same great game we reviewed in March 2009.
