AppBox Pro ($1.99, iTunes link) is popular in the App Store and basically the Swiss Arm Knife of iPhone apps. It brings all the simple apps that developers try to nickel & dime you with into one app. AppBox Pro includes 18 features:
- Battery Life
- Surface/bubble Level
- Currency converter
- Date calculator
- Days until (countdown)
- Flashlight
- Holidays for 83 Countries
- Loan calculator
- Periodic calculator
- Price grab
- Random number generator
- Ruler
- Sale price
- System info
- Tip calculator
- Translator
- Unit converter
- Web apps links
AppBox Pro‘s best feature is that it allows you to clean up your iPhone’s home screen by deleting all the apps it can replace. Maybe AppBox‘s popularity is a message to Apple that there needs to better a way to organize apps on the iPhone.

I found that the app’s various features work well in general, but there’s nothing exceptional here. For example, I liked the “battery life” function, which breaks down how much battery life you have left depending on what function of your iPhone you use, but it’s not particularly well-designed compared to other similar single-purpose apps. Overall, I felt the app could use a redesign.
Also, although this app has a lot of great elements, I wonder at its true utility. Are people really going to use these features?. For example, I don’t believe it is common practice for somebody to use a tip calculator after a meal when the iPhone already has a calculator. In fact, there are numerous reviews in the app store that “I never use this app.”
Conclusion
AppBox Pro is a great idea of for an app, as it consolidates all the single-purpose apps that clutter up your iPhone’s home screen into one. However, how much you’ll actually use the app itself is dubious (do you really need a flashlight app or can you use any app for light?). I can only recommend this app if you think you’ll use some of these functions on a regular basis.
AppBox Pro is a $1.99 download from the iTunes App Store.
