Prep for the Casino With BlackJack Teacher (Free iPhone Apps)

Blackjack is my favorite casino game, but I’m a total amateur who brings a strategy card to the table to know when to hit and when to stay. Maybe I should try BlackJack Teacher, a blackjack training app whose price has dropped to free (was $0.99). The app is only a strategy trainer, not a full game, so there is no betting nor does it play out the hand (we suggest Blackjack Free for that). But as a pure trainer, it moves things along quickly so you’ll learn faster. It also comes with a bet card–just don’t bust it out at the table in Vegas, they don’t take too kindly to iPhones these days.

BlackJack Teacher is a free download in the App Store. There is also a pay version, BlackJack Teacher Pro ($2.99, iTunes link), that will teach you to count cards.

Las Vegas Casinos Warned About Blackjack Card Counter iPhone App

Blackjack Card Counter iPhone apps helps keep track of the count

Casinos in Las Vegas have been warned by Nevada Gaming Regulators about Blackjack Card Counter ($3.99, iTunes link), an iPhone app which helps players track and take advantage of the probability odds in blackjack.

Count cards with the iPhone’s touch interface. Just don’t try it in Las Vegas.

Card counting is not illegal in Nevada, but using an electronic device such as an iPhone to aid in counting cards is a felony. California gaming officials were the first to hear reports of the app being used in Indian casinos in northern California.

Blackjack Card Counter offers four popular types of card counting strategies: Hi-Lo, Hi-Op I, Hi-Op II, and Omega II. There is also a stealth mode in which the iPhone’s screen goes black, but you can continue to press the +1, +2, -1, -2, and New Deck buttons to keep track of the count. You can back out of stealth mode by tapping the top half of the screen.

The Blackjack Card Counter app is available in the iTunes App Store

A vibrate feature was recently added to alert the card counter when a certain value is reached, ie, the probability advantage is in their favor.

There have been no official reports of the app being used in Las Vegas yet. Policy about cell phone usage at gaming tables is decided by the individual casino operator.

Blackjack Card Counter is a $3.99 download in the iTunes App Store.
