Caze Introduces the World’s Thinnest iPhone Case: the Zero 5 Ultrathin

Measuring in at a tiny 0.5mm at its thickest point (0.02 inches for those of you Imperially inclined), the new Caze Zero 5 UltraThin is the “world’s thinnest” iPhone case. The $20 case is available in clear or black and comes with two screen protectors and a microfiber cleaning cloth.

The Caze Zero 5 doesn’t cover any of the ports or controls but do extend far enough forward to give some protection to the chrome edge of the iPhone. I have an older Caze case, and while I love how thin it is. The earlier models did have major issues with paint flaking. Hopefully that has been remedied in this newer iteration.

Belkin Announces New iPhone Cases for 3G and 3G S

Belkin has announced several new cases for the iPhone 3G and 3G S, including the Grip Ergo (shown above, $29.99). The case’s main feature is a ribbed texture that should provide superior grip over the iPhone’s normal glossy plastic exterior.

In a press release announcing the new line of cases, Belkin states they arrived at the new designs after doing “extensive research into the iPhone user’s lifestyle, as well as the latest color trends for 2009.” The Grip Ergo will be available in four colors: Caviar, Chili Pepper, and Indigo. Other cases announced were:

Will iPhone 3G Cases Fit the iPhone 3G S?

We’ve received several emails asking if cases for the iPhone 3G will fit the new iPhone 3G S. The answer is yes. The iPhone 3G S has the exact same size and shape as the 3G. Only two changes were made to the casing of the iPhone: the lettering on the back (“Designed by Apple in California”) now matches the shiny chrome of the Apple logo, and there is a new coating on the screen that is more fingerprint resistant (called oleophobic coating).

All accessories should continue to work with the 3G S, as the headphone connector and docking port are the same. And with the iPhone’s new ability to interact with third-party hardware, we could see a whole lot more accessories coming to the iPhone soon.
