If you're reading this, you likely came from the How to Make a Ringtone With iTunes post. Welcome to our forum, here's a quick explanation of DRM and how to possibly remove it so you can make a ringtone.

Up until 2009, Apple used to place DRM into songs purchased from iTUnes. DRM stands for Digital Rights Management, and it's a form of copy protection that prevented people from copying songs to multiple computers. In mid-2009, Apple stopped using DRM for music. So if you bought your song in iTunes since 2009, you can use it to make a ringtone.

If you would like to remove DRM from your iTunes song, you may be able to redownload it in iTunes without DRM. On your computer, go into iTunes, log on to the store, go to the Quick Links section on the right side and click Purchased . Select Music and find the song. You may be able to redownload old songs you’ve purchased in iTunes without DRM on them (Apple no longer uses DRM on songs). On your computer, go into iTunes, log on to the store, go to the Quick Links section on the right side and click Purchased . Select Music and find the song.
