How to Output Audio from iPad to Computer (iMac)

I wanted to use some iPad apps as musical instruments to record some music on my iMac using GarageBand. Specifically, I want to use the Animoog app. What exactly do I have to do to output the audio from the iPad to the computer?

You'll need to get a 3.5mm male-to-male audio cable and connect it from the iPad's headphone jack to the iMac's audio line in (see image below):

Then in GarageBand, go into Preferences, select the Audio/MIDI tab, and set the Audio Input to Built-In Input. You'll need to create a new track using the Real Instrument setting, then make sure the Monitor is turned on so you can hear the instrument through your headphones/speaker as you play.
